UML leading in vote tally in PR category of HoR election

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML which has topped the first-past-the-post votes in the House of Representatives elections continues to lead in the vote tally towards the proportional representation category also.

As per the information received from the Information System Management Section at the Election Commission (EC) this morning, UML is leading in the number of votes secured by various parties in the proportional representation category of the House of Representatives (HoR) elections by a margin of 83,000 votes.

The UML has secured 2,940,040 votes, the Nepali Congress has 2,857,000 , the CPN Maoist Centre has 1,182,000 and the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal has 415,000 votes.

Similarly, the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal has polled 377,000 votes, the Bibeksheel Sajha Party has 197,000 and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has 188,000 votes, according to the EC.

The election to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies were held in two phases on November 26 and December 7.
