Unidentified group torches recently built ward office in Makawanpur

HETAUDA: An unidentified group set ablaze a newly built ward office of Thaha Municipality-5 in Makawanpur district.

According to ward chair Bishnu Bahadur Gurung, the ward office, built this year, located at Arandanda in Sano Phakhel, was set on fire. The arson attack was carried out after the group broke into the building and splashed petrol and kerosene in the place at around midnight, Gurung added.

The locals had informed the local representatives after they doused the fire, informed Gurung. According to Area Police Office (APO), Palung, all documents and furniture at the ward office have been destroyed in the fire.

Prior to this, a tipper and an excavator parked at Shikharkot of Thaha Municipality-3 was set ablaze in a similar manner on Thursday night. The tipper (Ba 3 Ka 1215) and excavator (Na 1 Ka 3242) parked near the building of Thaha Chamber of Commerce and Industry had been damaged in the arson attack, informed APO, Palung.

No individual or group has taken responsibility for the arson and investigation is underway.
