VDC secretaries in villages after three months to distribute social security allowance

VDC secretaries, who had been staying in the district headquarters, have reached their respective VDCs in Nawalparasi after three months to distribute social security allowance.

According to Shankar Basyal, account officer at the District Development Committee, VDC secretaries of 56 VDCs and officials of five municipalities will distribute a total of Rs 110 million. The government has allocated Rs 20 million for Kawasoti and Gaindakot municipalities. Single women, widows, senior citizens, people with disabilities, dalit children below five years, among others, will receive the allowance. As many as 40,951 persons in the district will receive allowances.

Man Bahadur Khadka, executive officer at Kawasoti municipality, said they would distribute the allowance from a convenient place as Dashain is approaching. “We will start distribution of social security allowance from Sunday,” said Khadka. The government has already released budget for distribution of allowance for mid-June to mid-October. However, Badri Tiwari, chief executive officer of Gaindakot Municipality, said budget for the allowance had not been released until Friday.
