Vehicular movement obstructed along Narayangadh-Muglin road section

KATHMANDU: The vehicular movement has been obstructed again after a landslide at Kalikhola in Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-6 along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section in Chitwan district, this afternoon.

Number of passengers and vehicles traveling to Kathmandu and other parts of the country have been stranded along the highway.

SP Deepak Thapa at the Chitwan District Police Office said the landslide occurred again at the same place were a police van and a truck were swept into the Trishuli River on Thursday night.

"Divers, who are searing the missing police van and two police personnel in the Trishuli River, swam to safety after the landslide," added SP Thapa.

"The contractor's container truck was partially damaged in the incident, however, the driver fled for safety,". SP Thapa informed.

"police have intensified the search operation of missing constable, weapons and van in the river," Chief of Chitwan District Police Office shared.

The site is said to be 2.5 km from Muglin along the Narayangard-Muglin road section.

Meanwhile, the body of a missing police constable Leela Bahadur Chepang has been found at the Narayani River at Kudauli in Devchuli Municipality-17 in Nawalparasi district this afternoon, according to the Chitwan District Police Office.

Chepang was the permanent resident of Makaisingh Rural Municipality-1 in Gorkha district.

However, the other police constable Sandeep Karki (21) of Rupakot Rural Municipality-3 in Tanahun district is still reported missing after the incident.

It has been learned that the police van along with two SLR rifles were also missing in the Trishuli River after being swept away by the landslide.
