RAUTAHAT: The vote counting has been halted in Brindaban Municipality in Rauthat district after a clash erupted between the locals and UML cadres this evening.

The tension escalated after the locals attacked UML leader reached the vote counting centre. The mob also vandalised a vehicle and one cadre was injured in the incident.

Election Officer Laxmi Upadhyay Ghimire confirmed that the vote counting was halted after the incident.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Uddav Bahadur Thapa has said security has been beefed-up in the area.
