Vote to be counted under CCTV surveillance in Bara

BARA: The vote counting of all the local bodies in Bara district would be counted under the CCTV surveillance, the Chief Returning Officer said.

District Chief Returning Officer Ritendra Thapa informed that the installation of the CCTV cameras are in the final stage. He also said that the no wire fence would be built for counting of votes in the district.

Learning lessons from Bharatpur incident, simple fence would be made, however, it was not wise to see everyone as suspects, Thapa lamented.

Thapa also said pass would be issued to one political representatives from each party to sit in the vote counting centre, however, they would be allowed to take one pen and diary in their possession.

"Security arrangement have been made along with the CCTV cameras and security has been beefed-up in the area," Thapa shared.

The arrangement has been made so, all the ballot boxes would reach the counting site late by 9pm.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has directed all its returning officers and district election officers to work accordingly to announce the results by five days or withing a week.

Chief Returning Officer Thapa also said that all the civil servants have been mobilised for the local polls.

It has been learned that the votes of the Kaliya Sub-Metropolitan City would be counted at the conference hall of Bara District Coordination Committee Office.

Similarly, Jeetpur Simara Sub Metropolitan City votes would be counted at the Nepal Rastriya Primary School, according to the Election Office.

Meanwhile, local schools, government offices, community building would be used as vote counting centres in the district, the Election Officer Office informed.
