Wife and daughters thrash man for selling Dashain-goat

PHIDIM: A man from Phidim Municipality-11 in Panchthar district was severely beaten and dumped at a nearby creek by his wife and two daughters after he sold a goat kept to be butchered during Dashain festival.

53-year-old Nar Bahadur Budhathoki was rescued by the police from the creek where his wife and daughters had dumped him, tied and nearly blind.

It has been learnt that Budhathoki’s wife Kunta and daughters, Chandrakala and Babita, threw chilly powder in Budhathoki’s eyes and thrashed him mercilessly.

Budhathoki is undergoing treatment at District Hospital, Panchthar. Meanwhile, police has detained his wife and daughters for further investigation.

Police rescued Budhathoki after his neighbours heard him crying and reported the incident, said Police Inspector Prakash Kumar Gupta of District Police Office, Panchthar.

Budhathoki has sustained eye injuries and swelling at various parts of his body.

"They returned from a relative’s house yesterday and beat me severely for selling the goat that was meant to be eaten during Dashain," Budhathoki said.
