Wild elephants demolish five houses, destroy grains

KANCHANPUR: A herd of wild elephants demolished five houses of the families who have been residing in Tarapur camp of the Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur district.

The wild elephants also destroyed all the grains stored inside the houses of the national park-displaced families.

Sub Inspector at Area Police Office, Jhalari, Lalmani Joshi informed that the herd of around 20 to 25 elephants believed to have come from the national park area at around 11:00 pm last night broke down the houses belonging to Dil Bahadur Luhar, Jit Ram Chaudhary, Lal Bahadur Dagaura, Bijaya Dagaura and Dukharam Dagaura.

He also shared that the elephants destroyed the grains stored in their houses.
