LAMJUNG: A woman has been taken into police custody on the charge of killing her new-born daughter.

The arrestee has been identified as 45-year-old Bishnu Maya Pariyar of Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality-2 in Lamjung district, according to the District Police Office (DPO).

Locals had found Pariyar's new born daughter wrapped inside a plastic bag and thrown inside a toilet, informed Police Inspector at Lamjung DPO, Rajendra Adhikari.

Police said that Pariyar was arrested from her house on August 3 after preliminary investigation indicated that she was responsible for the infant's murder.

Authorities informed that Pariyar has been remanded to judicial custody for an extended period of 10 days. She has been kept at the DPO as further investigation into the case is going on.
