DARCHULA: A woman who had jumped into the Mahakali River was found dead on Thursday, in Darchula.

According to District Police Office (DPO), Darchula, the deceased has been identified as Dropati Koli (45) of Dhap in Mahakali Municipality-7, who had jumped into the river after leaving home at 9:00 am on Thursday.

Her body was found at ward no 8 of the same municipality – around two kilometres downstream from where she took the plunge, informed Inspector Lal Bahadur Saud of DPO, Darchula.

A family source informed that the woman, who is married with two children, had been ill for a few days and was receiving treatment. Following an autopsy, her body was handed over to the family members by a team led by Police Inspector Saud.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the incident is underway, informed police.
