KATHMANDU: A woman, who was taken hostage by her husband apparently over dowry issue, was rescued by police on Tuesday.

Anil Kumar Yadav of Udaypurghurmi of Birgunj Sub- Metropolitan City-30 had taken her wife Mamata Devi Yadav hostage for the past ten days for not bringing dowry as per his expectation.

A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Parsa freed Mamata after her father informed police about the incident.

He also claimed that his daughter was also suffering physical assault for a long time.

Inspector Yam Bahadur Gurung of the DPO said that they have arrested Anil Kumar for investigation.
