KATHMANDU: Chinese President Xi Jinping told Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal that he would visit Nepal "at an earliest convenient date."

In a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit in Goa of India on Saturday, the Chinese leader expressed the readiness as PM Dahal reminded him of the invitation extended earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed via its official Twitter.

"They talked about promoting cooperation for development including infrastructure, connectivity, trade and transit," the Ministry added.

The two leaders also expressed satisfaction over the close and cordial relations based on the five principles of peaceful coexistence between the neighbours, according to the Ministry.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister had held a meeting with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and urged the Government of Bhutan to help prepare an atmosphere conducive to resolving the Bhutanese refugees’ problem soon.

Prime Minister Dahal had reached Goa earlier today, leading an 18-member Nepali delegation to attend the first BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit taking place on October 16.
