Youths unite against illegal activities

Youths of Dhangadi Sub-metropolitan, Kailali, have become active in preventing smuggling and other criminal activities that take place on the Nepal-India border.

With the campaign, the youths at Bhansar Road have united against illegal activities in the area. Nanda Singh Saud, a local, said the youths had united to minimise the smuggling and other illegal activities. “The smugglers have been taking advantage of the open borderand this has created problems,” he added.

As many as 200 youths of Bhansar road area formed the Shree Shakti Youth Club to monitor illegal activities in the area.

Chairman of the club Narad Bista said they have been holding discussions with locals after they registered the club a month ago with the District Administration Office. “We have been inspecting different toles and border areas with our campaign,” he informed.

Bista said they had started the movement after illegal materials and drugs smuggling through Gauriphanta Bazaar of India to Dhangadhi border increased.

“We launched the campaign after youths under the influence of the alcohol made noise and terrified the locals at night and theft cases among other illegal activities increased,” he added.

Meanwhile, Secretary Hom Raj Bhandari at Dhangadi Sub-metropolis ward No 2 said that the youths had united against illegal activities. He said Nepal Police, Border Security Force and locals have also helped with the movement.

The youths reached the toles and launched the awareness programme in the district.
