How advertising helps

Had there been no advertisements how would we know that there are different brands of cement available. Advertisement is the key source that informs us about changes happening in the market. It is the key element of marketing strategies for any organization. Advertising not only focuses on informing or boosting sales but also on maintaining ongoing relationship with the customers. It helps customers to compare products with each other. It informs about the brands and variety of products/services available.

How will a newly married couple, who recently gave birth to a baby, know that there is a polio camp going on if there had been no advertisements. Advertisement campaigns help customers who aren’t aware about  new products and let customers choose the best products which ultimately meet their needs. Would we even know that smart watches exist in the market if there were no advertisements?

Advertisements provide freedom of choice, giving a wide range of alternatives. We would have no idea about what to purchase on entering marts and malls. We would have a difficult choice to go through every shampoo to find out the one that would suit us - dandruff free or silky shampoo. Each time we enter a store shopping is done according to need.

If there were no advertisement sources, free information would be lost. We would remain unaware about the changing world market. Without advertisements we would not know that there are travel and tour agencies providing Thailand trip packages in Nepal. We will not know about the mobile display and laptops, among other things.

Advertisement is the art of arresting the human intelligence just long enough to get money from it. Advertisements are the reasons for the existence of the media.

There is nothing wrong with advertisements as it lets a large number of people  know about the products and turn luxuries into necessities. Advertisement is not a burden for sure. Subconsciously, we have benefited through advertisements one way or the other. It may seem that the programs would be further effective without advertisements, as there would be no breaks; it may seem that newspapers would have more space covering news, views and information in the absence of advertisements; but thousands of people would remain unemployed. The business involving huge amounts would all be lost.
