LETTERS: Curbing aggression

Aggression and depression are linked with frustration as urged by many psychologists. Blaming, torturing, abusing, criticizing, neglecting, lust, greed, etc are the outcomes of aggression that gives rise to barbarism. It’s human nature to seek pleasure and happiness.

People sometimes become so overwhelmed by their desires that they end up harming others in the course of quenching his/her thirst for material gain and whatsoever. Some people get involved in such immoral acts to escape the harsh reality of the world and take utmost pleasure in their life. Various factors come into play for such behaviour of an individual.

Apart from the environmental factors, other roots of aggression are traumatic childhood experience, hormonal factors, excessive use of stimulant drugs or narcotics.

In order to curb aggression, various types of therapies such as meditation, yoga therapy, music and dance therapy, art therapy, spiritual therapy can be effective. Besides, psychological counselling is preferable too.

It is human greed that causes poverty, slavery and all kinds of human miseries for the needy and mechanical existence and boredom for the greedy. But it will be foolish if we let depression snowball within us just waiting for such an ideal egalitarian world. In that case, depression will overpower us and ultimately kill us. So, we desperately need to get immediate relief. When a psychologist or our friend advises us to listen to soothing music, to read an inspiring book and to get solace in the beauties of nature, s/he does not do so to belittle the cause of depression or our mental strength. Such prescription is only to give us some relief. We all need a good natural and social environment to keep all diseases away. Indeed, we all need an environment where everyone can get such material things as potable water, nutritious food, enough money and such spiritual things as cooperation, compassion, love and satisfaction.

Fascinating

Nepal is indeed one of the coolest nations in the world with divergent ethnic populations spread across the high mountains and vast valley regions, spectacular forests and impressive biodiversity and an engaging socio-cultural diversity unique to the planet. Nepal is blessed with majestic landforms comprising gigantic mountain ranges, rugged mountainous slopes, vast river valleys, majestic rivers, lakes and mountain passes along with a unique combination of Hinduism, Buddhism and indigenous religious practices and festivities that make this nation stand out among other competing names. But the coolest factor for the nation is the resilience of the people and their ability to remain happy and enjoy life in spite of the extreme socio-economic hardships, political destabilization and lack of much needed economic growth. It is these people that make Nepal one of the most beautiful and fascinating nations on the planet. Long live Nepal, the Himalayan wonder!
