When I am alone, I return to the vista of the days when I had done things, sometimes right and sometimes wrong. How I wish that I had a time machine so that I can change regretful things of the past so that I would be having a better today. If I could go into my past and change one thing, I would definitely not join basic science for my bachelor’s degree. This is because I didn’t plan carefully for my future and my career according to my interests then. Of course, situations were not suitable but I should have been strong enough to fight that. To set it right, I would join some technical courses.

Certainly, most of us have some regrets which we want to undo and set it right. What I regret most is choosing the science stream in +2 because of getting good result in S.L.C. although I have/had interest in arts field. Now, I am suffering due to that decision because neither I can shift the stream nor want to continue it. So, I would surely go into that moment and alter the decision to set it right.

In my life there are many regrets in my past but one of the painful regret that I felt is my past was when my dog was sick I didn’t took care of her, rather than taking care I just kept on ignoring about her illness and finally when her health condition was totally worst and was at the face of death I noticed, then I made her out from home because I didn’t want her to die in front of my eyes. If I could go into my past and correct mistake then I will take my lovely dog to veterinary and give her best health treatment and make her fit and fine. Now in my life if I do keep pet in my home then I will fully take care of pet and take full responsible on health, entertainment, food etc. Now I do have an experience of keeping pet at home so in my future I will keep pet only if I am sure about it that I can take care of her in all sectors which is most important. – Sanjay Shrestha Kumaripati, Laltitpur

Every night, I regret something that I did or said, I promise myself not to repeat it but the next night, it’s the same story. There is one thing that I always regret about my past is my “easy come, easy go” attitude. Well, you may scratch your head and ask what is the problem with easy going attitude? It actually helps one to gain optimism. But, I suggest them to turn back some pages of their lives and re call when their parents taught them that “Too much of everything, even medicine is poison”. Rightly said by someone that, “Never judge a book by its cover”, though I seemed a very much of a serious and a workaholic person, I was not so. I never was serious in anything. And that affected my studies, my works, my behavior, in short, it affected me. Now, I still have that “laid back” attitude, but slowly I am getting right on track. Although I still don’t like being serious but ironically, I hate being laid back.

Question

All of us have at least one thing that we regret in our past. If you could go into your past and rub out one regret or set it right, what would it be and why? What would you do differently now to set it right?
