This is so called "Kali-Yug", everyone is self-conscious in this era and so is our government. Our government did not think about the fact that the current situation of the country is pathetic for tourism. They just wanted to come in the limelight by the point that "Tourism Year" happened in the time of their governance. If I had a chance of welcoming the tourist in my city, I have nothing to show them except polluted Bagmati, slums, stinky garbage thrown everywhere and many more. I know this is disheartening but we cant runaway from the bitter truth every time. I know my country is one of the most beautiful destination in this planet but its beauty has been covered with the thick blanket of filthy dirts. If we show this type of Nepal to the tourists then they'll say ONCE IS ENOUGH!!!

if i got chance to welcomed to tourist 1st of all i tell them about our natural beauty instead of loadshedding. Our government is fully responsible for vanishing tourism year if they wouldn't walk even a step about our country. thanks

Together for Tourism Together for Prosperity Prosperity for Peace This is a slogan which encourages me to do some thing for my country. This is a greater opportunity to introduce a country of Himalaya, Buddha, Shiva (Pashupatinath) in front of the billions of people. NTY 2011 starts with great hope to uplift Nepal from the current economic crisis, which is gift of the politician to general public. As we all know Nepal is currently government less, so I don’t blame government for not building adequate infrastructure and promotion campaigns to bring tourist for NTY 2011.There is a race for being prime minister within the party and between the parties. I blame our politician and bureaucrats for the current condition of the NTY and country as whole. I am from Nepal and whole Nepal is my locality, so I don’t thing I have to promote a small area because I have “Sundar Santa and Bishal” Nepal to promote. I am current being online and contacting as much as foreigner I can and giving them information about NTY 2011 and stimulating them to make Nepal as a visiting destination for year 2011, when they can have a real test of Nepal’s beauty and Nepali culture.

The Government is only the facilitator for the NTY 2011. Most of the related agencies and companies are not serious to bring tourist for to celebrate it. Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) and the tourism related private agencies are not doing well for contemporary issues and challenges of the tourist in presence of high uncertainties, limited public awareness and where government policy changes frequently and unpredictably. But we can promote it by our heterogeneous ethnic and cultural groups with a glorious history of always being an independent and sovereign country as well as records of extreme courage and bravery honesty and help of the people provide unique picture of religions and cultural tolerance.

To any kind of tourist new place, locality and community values. They have already set there mind about how the situation would be in underdeveloped country like Nepal. They will be curious and somewhat surprise to see our living style, surrounding and environment around. Kathmandu is a beautiful city and there are several tourist places like durbar square bouddhanath, museums etc. but it would be better to welcome 1000000 tourist with proper and adequate infrastructural development, security and promotional campaign for NTY 2011.

Question

The government has been criticised for not making adequate infrastructural development and promotional campaigns to bring in tourists for Nepal Tourism Year 2011 and now the countdown to NTY 2011 has ended. The target is to bring at least one million tourists to Nepal in NTY 2011. Given the opportunity to welcome tourists to your locality, what feature of your place you would like to promote to the tourists to come and experience and enjoy? Why?
