BENI: Two-year old Sangam Chhantyal had died few days ago and over 200 people in Kuinemangale and Malkabang villages have been suffering from fever for the past one week, sources said today.
Patients were diagnosed with symptoms of fever, coughing and diarrhoea. According to local Cha
Bahadur Chhantyal, residents of ward number 1 and 3 of Kuimangale and all the nine wards of Malkabang village development committees have been suffering from fever.
Chhantyal said, “At least one person from each family have been affected by fever and three members of my family are also sick.” He said that a team of health workers reached the area from nearby health facility, but they returned as they did not sufficient medicine.
“We are compelled to go to faraway places to bring medicine,” Chhantyal added.
Chhantyal urged the concerned body to take necessary measures for the supply of medicines to the villagers.
According to him, the disease has spread to Malkbang, Malampar, Bhedikhalta including other areas. Elderly people and the children of these areas have been seriously affected.
Dr Jhalak Sharma, chief, District Hospital Myagdi, said that he was not
aware about the spread
of disease in the area, adding, “We will collect information about it and send a medical team in
the affected area if required.”
