KATHMANDU: “Literature is not only for entertainment. It has vast areas of interest and also the power to conquer whole world in one. Literature is not limited to geographic boundaries and it is meant to help everyone to live the life the way it is meant to be,” expressed Momila Joshi, Chairperson of Nepali Kalasahitya Dot Com Foundation, at a programme organised on the occasion of 2556 Buddha Jayanti at the Nepal Tourism Board on June 4.

The programme started with the launch of Kalashree, a yearly literary journal. Apart from that, the programme was all about poets’ assembly on peace organised for the second time where 15 poets recited their poems.

Poets like Shaymal, Thakur Belbashe, Biplov Dhakal, Narayan Shrestha, Sakuntala Joshi and others recited their poems in a very empowering and influential way where nature, personification of peace, natural calamities, weapons, war, Buddhist monks, Swoyambhu, and more were the common themes in their poems.

All poems had a positive hope for living life in a better way and a hope that everyone gets peace in all aspects. About the programme Dr Tulsi Diwas, poet and the chief guest of the event shared, “ I am very glad to see that the young generation of poets are all gathered under one roof and Nepali Kalasahitya Dot Com Foundation has broken the rule of honouring people working in literary field only in their old age. And the involvement of organisation for the promotion of literature has been seen here which should be followed by other organisations as well.”

At the programme, Usha Sherchan, patron of Nepali Art and Literature Dot Com Foundation, informed about the 15-year plan of the foundation to enhance Nepali language, art, culture and literature not only at the national level but also at the international level.

Raju Man Dongol from the audience opined, “This kind of programme plays an important role to enhance the level of literature and people working in this field.” Echoing a similar view, poet Joshi said, “The event is a form of encouragement for young poets like us.”
