KATHMANDU: Civil Bank cruised to the Corporate Beach Cricket Inter-bank Series title with a four wicket victory over Sunrise Bank at the Riverside Springs Resort in Kurintar today.

Sunrise opted to bat first and made 55-2 in five overs, before Civil reached 60-1 in 4.1 overs losing only one wicket. Bhola Bista made 33 unbeaten in 14 deliveries before being retired out. Earlier, Sujan Shrestha’s 28 off seven deliveries and 15 runs from Nischal Basnet helped Sunrise cross the 50-run mark.

Earlier in the semi-final matches, Civil Bank had thrashed Jyoti Bikash Bank, while Sunrise Bank overcame NMB Bank by one-wicket. NMB joined Group ‘A’ winners Civil Bank in the semi-finals, while Group ‘B’ winners Sunrise were joined by Jyoti Bikash Bank as runners-up. Bishnu Poudel of NMB was adjudged player-of-the-series after he picked up seven wickets and made 110 runs.

Prakriti Poudel of Jyoti Bikash Bank took the best female participant honour taking seven wickets throughout the tournament. Etihad Airways country manager Pawana Shrestha handed over the prizes to the winners.

In all, 10 teams took part in the two-day league-cum-knockout tournament organised by the Shangri-La Cricket Academy. The Academy will now organise Inter-corporate event at the same venue from April 20-21.
