JANAKPURDHAM: Irate businessmen forced to bear huge loss due to continuous bandh torched three motorcycles of bandh enforcers in Janakpur today.
Janakpur remained tense due to the clash between bandh enforcers and entrepreneurs the whole day today. Entrepreneurs torched three motorcycles and fled after bandh enforcers took out a rally from Gopal Dharmashala parking their motorcycles there.
Meanwhile, bandh enforcers vandalised a fire engine belonging to Janakpur municipality and manhandled the driver while it was returning after dousing the fire on the torched motorcycle.
Driver Jibkanta Jha and municipality staffer Mahendra Jha were injured in the assault while the fire engine has been damaged. A huge number of police personnel was mobilised to avert clashes. Businessmen chanted slogans against bandh enforcers and Chamber of Commerce and Industries for failing to resume business.
Meanwhile, cadres of Brihat Madhesi Morcha vandalised some government offices, including district development committee and district agriculture office for defying the bandh. However, Dhanusha SP Purusottam Kandel showed ignorance about the vandalism in government offices. Staffers in those offices said the police became mute spectators though they were present there.
Shesh Narayan Yadav, Chairman, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Dhanusha, said the offices were vandalised for defying the bandh.
