KATHMANDU: Japan today welcomed the latest political developments in Nepal’s peace process and lauded political leaders for their pledge to resolve the disputed issues vis-a-vis the integration of Maoist’s ex-fighters into the Nepali Army.
In a press statement, the Embassy of Japan said, “The Nepali Year 2069 will be remembered as the beginning of a new era in the history of Nepal.”
Acknowledging the role of political parties since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2006, Japan has called on political leaders to concentrate on the constitution-drafting process.
“Japan, as an old friend of Nepal, sincerely wishes that the political leaders and the members of the Constituent Assembly, which is tasked with constitution-drafting, a historic task, remain united for the purpose of realising the long-embraced aspirations of the people of Nepal,” read the press statement reaffirming Japan’s continued support to Nepal.
