Media persons to be compensated

KATHMANDU: Today’s Cabinet decided to provide compensation to mediapersons whose properties were vandalised during the three-day strike called by organisations associated with indigenous nationalities. The government has also decided to bear the cost of treatment for injured mediapersons. The Cabinet also declared Dipendra Das, the latest victim of Janakpur blast, a martyr. His family will receive a compensation of one million rupees.

In order to avoid shortage of sugar, the Cabinet has authorised agencies concerned to import 20,000 metric tonnes of sugar by mid-October on one per cent customs duty.

According to Yadav, the government also decided to reappoint Administrative Court Chairman Kashi Raj Dahal on the same post for another five years.

The government has directed the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies to implement Essential Commodities Price Control and Regulation report 2012. Similarly, the term of the taskforce constituted to study the criteria to be called martyrs has been extended by a month. The government has appointed Kamal Dhakal as the Executive Director of the Nepal Open University Infrastructure Development Committee.
