KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala today said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) failed to promulgate the new constitution due to the Unified CPN-Maoist’s recalcitrance on the issues of the new constitution. Koirala, speaking at a programme of the NC’s Mahottari-Kathmandu Samparka Samiti at the party headquarters in Sanepa, blamed the Maoist party for the constitutional and political impasse.
The NC chief accused the UCPN-Maoist of trying always to impose its autocratic agendas, thereby causing the CA’s dissolution. He reiterated that the Congress will never compromise on the issues of the new constitution.
Stressing that consensus is the only option left for the political forces, he said that the Congress will make the Maoists take the path of consensus.
