NSU seeks action against those attacking envoy's car

HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE

KATHMANDU: Nepal Students’ Union, student wing of the Nepali Congress, today demanded action against those involved in vandalising a vehicle belonging to the Embassy of Germany during a protest yesterday.

Issuing a press statement, NSU made it clear that it did call for demonstrations at Tribhuvan International Airport to protest ‘caretaker Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s visit to Brazil’ but its cadres were not involved in vandalising German envoy’s vehicle. NSU added that targeting diplomatic missions’ cars was not in its protest plan and nor will it be in future. “Some reactionary elements tried to spoil our protest yesterday by intentionally vandalising the vehicle belonging to the Embassy of Germany,” NSU said in its statement. Terming the incident sad, NSU condemned the act.

The statement added that in any kind of protest, NSU always allows free movement of ambulances, vehicles of press people, tourists and diplomatic missions. “The attack was perpetrated to tarnish NSU’s image.”
