KATHMANDU: All Nepal National Independent Students' Union (ANNISU-Revolutionary) close to UCPN (Maoist) has announced president candidates for the upcoming Free Students' Union (FSU) election.
The Union has declared the name of those candidates fighting for the post of president in the FSU election from different campuses across the country through a press meet on Sunday.
The candidates nominated in the valley-based campuses are Manushi Yami Bhattarai (Tribhuvan University central campus), Surendra Basnet ( Ratna Rajya Campus, Pradarshani Marg), Dipesh Pun (Amrit Science Campus, Thamel), Dhruba Bikram Wali (Tahachal), Indra Bhusal (Pashupati Multiple Campus Chabahil), Govinda Kandel (Public Youth Campus Dhobichaur), Chakra Bhatta ( Thapathali Engineering Campus) and Ganesh Budhathoki (Sanothimi Campus) and Hem Moktan (Patan Campus Lalitpur).
Likewise, others candidates are Devananda Yadav ( Mahendra Morang Campus), Santosh Kumar Singh ( Birendra Multiple Campus, Bharatpur), Praveen Sharma ( Mahendra Multiple Campus, Dang), Surya Gharti ( Mahendra Multiple Campus, Nepalgunj), Govinda KC ( Prithvinarayan Campus Pokhara) Bimal Giri ( Butwal Multiple Campus), Devichandra Upadhyay (Surkhet Education Campus) and Tukman Mohara ( Jaljala Campus, Rolpa).
Speaking at the press meet, ANNISU-R President Himal Sharma pledged to implement agreements reached among the 11 students' union for the electoral alliance.
He appealed to the union faction close to CPN-Maoist to go for election through an alliance. The union said although it announced the name of the candidates, it was ready to scrap them if necessary for working unity and alliance with the CPN-Maoist faction. Union leader Sharma refuted charges of enrolling new students in bulk and fake students. Our serious attention has been drawn towards such fabricated media reports, he said.
