BHAIRAHAWA: An infant girl who was born to a mentally ill woman here last Wednesday has been handed over to the SOS Balgram (Children's Village) in Bhairahawa.

The woman had given birth to the child at an open area of local Hatbazar line, Butwal.

The Bhairahawa Police rescued the child as her mother was about to strangulate her and sent her to the Lumbini Zonal Hospital, Butwal.

At the initiative of the District Child Welfare Committee, Rupandehi, the girl was handed over to the Children's Village, according to SOS Officer Rajya Laxmi Gupta.
