KATHMANDU: Sudhir Sherchan won the sixth edition of the Ballantine's Monthly Medal Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday. Sherchan, an 18-handicap player, scored three-under 64 at the par-67 course. Played under strokeplay full handicap format, HS Nepali came second with 65, while Jamling Ghale finished third at 66. In all, 22 players took part in the event. Ramesh Ghimire, Sales Manager of Rabin Import and Export Pvt Ltd, gave away the prizes.
Mani strikes men’s singles gold
KATHMANDU: Mani Kumar Lama of AVM won the men’s singles gold medal of the third Morgan Cup Inter-college Table Tennis Championships on Saturday. In the final match, Mani defeated Piyush Awal of Guiness International 11-3, 11-3, 8-11, 11-0. Anish Shrestha of Morgan and Ajesh Maharjan of BernHardt finished third.
APF beat New Diamond in charity
KATHMANDU: Nepal APF Club defeated New Daimond Academy 25-19, 25-17, 25-14 in the charity match played to raise fund for the Pulsar Sports Award’s Popular Player of the Year nominee Ramila Tandukar. The match was organised by the New Diamond Academy — from where Ramila passed her SLC exams — and Dhorpatan Sports Training Club to raise funds. The Popular Player of the Year award will be decided through SMS voting. The spectators who watched the match also appealed others to make Ramila the winner of the award.
Inter-college Table Tennis C’ships
KATHMANDU: BernHardt duo of Dev Ratna Maharjan and Pukar Upreti claimed the men’s doubles gold at the first BernHardt Inter-college Table Tennis Championships here on Saturday. The duo defeated Academia pair of Sudarshan Khanal and Sabin Maharjan 11-6, 11-8, 11-5 in the final. Krishna Bhattarai/Santosh Maharjan of Academia along with Maman Tiwari/Abiral Sthapit of Prime finished joint third. Dev and Pukar also made it all-BernHardt men’s singles final. Dev defeated Sardul Shrestha of Academia 11-4, 11-3, 11-2, while Pukar overcame Maman of Prime 11-4, 11-9, 11-8.
