KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal today appealed the radical faction led by senior vice-chairman Mohan Baidhya to keep the party unity intact claiming that any split in the party would ultimately benefit the reactionary forces.
On the other hand addressing a separate May Day celebration of his faction, senior vice-chairman Mohan Baidhya said his faction would make maximum efforts to keep the party united as per the people’s aspiration. He, however, said his faction would go for a revolt if the parties deceived the people.
Dahal warned other political parties that no power on earth can stop people’s revolt if the constitution could not be drafted as per the people’s aspiration. He said that they would go for revolt if parties failed to compromise on directly elected President, identity and capacity-based federalism.
“If the parties failed to meet the aspirations of the people, then Nepali people will capture the power,” he said the gathering at Khulamanch organised to mark the May Day. He urged the radical faction to resolve the differences through talks and not in the streets.
On constitution, Dahal said parties should forge consensus by Wednesday morning if they were to draft new constitution on time. He also told the workers that their representation would be ensured in both the houses.
Baidhya, however, claimed at Basantapur that his party’s leadership has deceived the people by not moving ahead towards new people’s democratic revolution. He said that the peace process was concluded by forcing the PLA to surrender and the possibility of drafting pro-people constitution was slim as the parties have already begun plotting against it.
Claiming that they would not keep mum if the parties failed to deliver what they had promised to the people, Baidhya said they would continue to fight for the people’s rights. Party general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa said that Maoist leadership had surrendered to the foreign powers by signing the agreements that other parties had refused.
Addressing a joint May Day function with Baidhya faction at Basantapur, convener of the CPN Maoist Matrika Yadav appealed to all communists to make preparations for revolt claiming that the CA cannot draft pro-people statute.
