AFC U-19 C’ship Qualifiers: Nepal suffer humiliating 10-0 loss to Iran

KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered a humiliating 10-o loss to the hosts Iran in their opening match of the AFC U-19 Championship 2016 Qualifiers, played in Mashhad on Friday.

In their Group E opener at the Samen Al Aemeh Stadium, Nepal conceded five goals each in both the halves of the game with Iranian skipper Reza Chaab opening and closing the floodgates.

As Iran went up 5-0 by the end of the first half, Nepal could not resist the offensive play of the hosts.

Chaab had got the first of his four goals just one minute into the match and took Iran into double figures when he completed the scoring one minute into stoppage time, having also found the target in the 13th and 84th minutes, according to the AFC.

In another match played yesterday, Kuwait defeated Jordan 2-1.

Ten group winners and five best second-placed teams will qualify for the finals while hosts Bahrain received an automatic qualification (total 16 teams).
