ANFA unveils U-23 squad for Bangladesh friendly

Lalitpur, July 9

The All Nepal Football Association on today announced a 23-member squad for the friendly match against Bangladeshi U-23 team slated to be held at the ANFA Complex on July 11.

Bimal Gharti Magar was named the skipper, while Ananta Tamang is Vice-captain. The team comprises of three goalkeepers, eight each defenders and midfielders, and four forwards.

Alan Neupane, Ashok Baral and Kishor Giri are goalkeepers, while Ananta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Gaurav Budhathoki, Kamal Shrestha, Amit Tamang, Niraj Basnet, Tshiring Gurung and Laxman GC are defenders.

Similarly, Heman Gurung, Hemant Thapa Magar, Suman Lama, Sunil Bal, Pujan Uperkoti, Tej Tamang, Dona Thapa and Bibek Basnet are midfielders whereas Bimal Gharti Magar, Anjan Bista, Sanjog Rai and Biswash Shrestha are forwards.

The friendly is a part of preparation for Nepal’s Group D matches of the AFC U-23 Qualifiers slated for July 15-19.

Nepal have been pitted in the group along with the hosts United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Lebanon. Nepali youth will face hosts UAE on July 15, take on Uzbekistan two days later before playing against Lebanon on July 19.

Meanwhile, the ANFA informed that the same squad, which will play against Bangladesh, will represent Nepal in the qualifiers.
