APF, NDA, NPC record victories

Kathmandu, January 20

Nepal APF Club, Shivam New Diamond Academy and Nepal Police Club registered victories in the 13th Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Double League Volleyball Tournament here at the Dhorpatan Volleyball Training Centre courts in New Buspark today.

APF thrashed Three Star Academy 25-3, 25-2, 25-1 for their fourth consecutive victory. Previous edition’s runners-up APF are at the top of the table with 12 points. Similarly, NDA defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 26-24, 25-14, 25-16 to accumulate nine points from three victories and moved to second position. TAC, who also have nine points, are third. Paramount Academy and New Diamond Sports Club are tied on six points.

Meanwhile, NPC recorded their first victory beating Meghauli Sports Club of Chitwan in straight sets. NPC, who had faced defeat against APF, outplayed Meghauli 25-10, 25-7, 25-13. Meghauli had defeated Paramount Academy 25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-5 in their first match of the day.

Likewise, New Diamond Sports Club registered double victories. They defeated Springdale Boarding School 18-25, 25-15, 25-17, 29-27 and returned to beat Three Star 25-18, 25-14, 25-20. Tops HS School of Pokhara, Eastern Regional Volleyball Association and Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee are yet to play their first match.

A total of 12 teams are competing in the event organised by Dhorpatan Sports Club under the sponsorship of Gorkha Brewery. Top seven teams after the first round will qualify for the second league. The top three teams will earn Rs 325,000, Rs 170,000 and Rs 80,000 respectively. Similarly, the best player, rising player, player-of-the-year and player-of- the-series along with one lucky spectator will get UM Powermax scooter each, sponsored by IME Automotives Pvt Ltd.
