APF, NDA through to semis

Nepal APF Club, Ifad Women’s Volleyball Club of Bangladesh, Shivam New Diamond Academy and Nepal Police Club advanced to semi-finals of the fifth Prime Minister Cup International Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the Nepalgunj Stadium courts today.

APF and Ifad finished as Group A winners and runners-up respectively, while NDA topped Group B finishing ahead of NPC. In Sunday’s semi-final matches, APF will take on NPC, while Ifad will play against NDA.

In the day’s matches, APF thrashed hosts New Indreni Bageshwori Youth Club 25-12, 25-14, 25-9 to top Group A. APF’s Saraswoti Chaudhary was named the player-of-the-match. In their previous encounter, APF had defeated Ifad, while the Bangladeshi team saw off hosts New Indreni to finish as runners-up.

Similarly, NDA thrashed Sports Trainees Team of Dehradun 25-8, 25-9, 25-4 and topped Group B. Lalita Nath was named the player-of-the-match. Earlier, NDA had defeated NPC in their first match, while the departmental side made it to the semi-finals at the expense of the Indian team.

Top three teams will earn Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. The tournament is being organised by Banke District Volleyball Association.
