APF, Province7 record easy wins

Kathmandu, June 2

Nepal APF Club and Province7 registered wins in the Prime Minister Cup One Day Cricket Tournament here today.

On a low scoring day when a total of 490 runs were scored in four innings, APF defeated Province1 by nine wickets at the Mulpani grounds, while Province7 beat Province3 by two wickets.

Put into bat first, Province1 were bowled out for 127 runs in 42 overs before APF raced to 130-1 in 16.3 overs. Opener Sandeep Dhungana top scored for Province1 with 29 off 64 balls that included two fours and a six, while Minash Thapa struck four boundaries in his 49-ball 27. Puspa Thapa scored 20 off 36 balls hitting two fours, while Sunny Pun (11) and Bibek Meheta (10) also scored in double figures.

Karan KC, Bhuvan Karki, Basant Regmi and Amar Singh Routela took two wickets each for APF.

In reply, Man-of-the-match Anil Kumar Sah and Prithu Baskota shared an unbeaten 100-run partnership for the second wicket as APF reached the target with ease. Sah clobbered five fours and three sixes in his 48-ball 62 not out, while Baskota remained unbeaten on run-a-ball 32 that included five fours.

Pradeep Singh Airee, who scored 23 off 19 balls hitting five boundaries, was the only wicket to fall, caught by Firdosh Ansari off Sandeep Dhungana.

In another match, Province3 were all out for 116 in 33.3 overs, while Province7 reached 117-8 in 39.4 overs. Jitendra Singh Thakuri top scored for Province3 with 40 off 77 balls that included four fours and a six, while Sonu Tamang scored 20-ball 29 and Sanjay Basnet scored 10.

Man-of-the-match Sher Malla was the pick of the Province7 bowlers taking 4-27 and he was ably supported by Bikash Aagri (3-28).

In reply, Sanju Damai scored 25 off 33 balls hitting three fours and a six to lead Province7 to victory. Bijay Rana eked out 24 off 86 balls, while Arun Airee scored 21. Sagar Dhakal and Jitendra Singh Thakuri took two wickets each for Province3.
