Balbhawan win Inter-school Cup

Lalitpur, April 14

Balbhawan International School of New Delhi won the title of the first DAV International Fraternity and Unity School Cricket League here today.

Balbhawan defeated Aryan International School of Varanasi by 58 runs in the final match at the Institute of Engineering grounds. Batting first, Balbhawan scored 133-9 in 20 overs before packing Aryan to a paltry 75 runs in 15.1 overs.

Nikhil Tanwar top scored in the match with 19-ball 32 that included five boundaries and a six, while Ishan Singh scored 28 off 31 balls and Yash Dhool contributed 22 for Balbhawan. Manish Kumar Patel was the pick of the Aryan bowlers taking 3-19, while Subham Verma and Prashant Dubey claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Manish Kumar Patel scored 27 off 24 balls hitting three fours, while Yash Lakhmani (10) was the only other Aryan batsman to score in double figures. Abhivan Bhatta (4-14) and Kartik Sharma (4-23) shared eight wickets between them, while Sakham Singroha took 2-18. Sharma was named the man-of-the-match.

Manish Kumar Patel of Aryan was named the player of the series, while Nikhil Tanwar of Balbhawan was adjudged the best batsman for his 142 runs in the event. Nepal Police School’s Niranjan Adhikari, who took 11 wickets, won the best bowler’s award, while Sagar Nawal of Balbhawan was named the best wicketkeeper. Aman Jainwal of Balbhawan was declared the emerging player, whereas New Horizon School of Butwal and City Montessori School of Lucknow received the fair play and best outfit awards respectively.

CEO of Cricket Association of Nepal Bhawana Ghimire, First Secretary at the Embassy of India N Ramprasad and Second Secretary SK Saraswat and national cricket team member Shakti Gauchan handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament organised by DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School.
