Balkumari win opener

Kathmandu, April 2

Balkumari Cricket Club defeated Shikhar Ply Kings by 78 runs in the opening match of the Tiptop Marwadi Premier League here at the TU Stadium today.

Batting first, BCC were all out for 134 runs in 19.4 overs before packing Kings for a paltry 58 runs in 15.5 overs. Opener Vivek Goel top scored for BCC with 31 off just 18 balls hitting two fours and a six, while Vikash Rathore and Pritam Thapa scored 18 each.

Manish Goel (17) and Gaurav Sharma (11) also scored in double figures. For King, Shaishav KC and Bhoj Raj Bhatta took three wickets each. In reply, opener Shaishav KC was the lone Kings batsman to score in double figures. He hit a four in his 17 off 28 balls. Pritam Thapa was the pick of the BCC bowlers taking 4-14 from 3.5 overs and that also earned him the man-of-the-match award. Vikash Rathore and Dinesh Sharma claimed two wickets each.

In another match, Fighters thrashed Onemix-XI by 10 wickets. Batting first, Onemix scored 127-7 before Fighters raced to 128 without loss in just 13.4 overs.

Onemix skipper Nitin Kagliwala top scored for the team with an unbeaten 42 off 46 balls hitting two fours, while Murari Thakur (19), Bikash Agrawal (14) and Raunak Ninda (10) scored in double figures. Rohit Sharma took 3-24 for Fighters, while Bibek Ranamagar claimed two wickets.

In reply, Fighters openers Niraj Agarwal and Ankit Garg scored half centuries to take the team home. Skipper Agarwal struck three fours and two sixes in his 44-ball 51, while man-of-the-match Garg scored 59 off just 38 balls that included three fours and five sixes.
