Birat Gold Cup under lights

Biratnagar, March 18

The Birat Gold Cup Football Tournament is scheduled for March 31 to April 9 at the Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar, informed organising committee President Nabin Rijal at a press meet today.

A total of 10 teams - Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club, Ruslan Three Star Club, Nepal APF Club, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Rumpum Jhapa-XI and Morang-XI along with one team each from India, Bhutan and Bangladesh - will compete in the tournament.

Tournament winners and runners-up will be richer by Rs 1.27 million and Rs 551,000 respectively.

Similarly, the best player tournament will get a motorbike, while the best coach, goalkeeper, midfielder, defender, forward and the highest scorer will get Rs 25,000 each. Man-of-the-match will receive Rs 10,000.

Meanwhile, Rijal informed that all the matches of the tournament will be played under floodlights and the estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 10 million. Maruti Cement and Rumpum noodles are the sponsors of the tournament.
