Birtamod clinch Panchthar Gold Cup

Birtamod United of Jhapa defeated New Star Club of Sunsari 4-1 in the final of the Panchthar Gold Cup Football Tournament here today.
Nawayug Shrestha scored a brace, while Puspa Maden and Pujan Uparkoti netted a goal each for Birtamod. Nishan Limbu scored the consolation goal for New Star.
National team striker Shrestha opened the scoring in the third minute before Limbu levelled the scores in the 33rd minute. However, Maden restored Biratamod's lead in the 47th minute and Uparkoti made it 3-1 in the 57th minute. Shrestha scored his second goal of the match in the 75th minute to seal the victory.
Champions Birtamod earned Rs 305,555 along with the trophy, while runners-up New Star got Rs 150,000.
Birtamod's Nawayug Shrestha, who scored six goals in the tournament, was adjudged the best player and he received a TVS motorbike and Rs 10,000.
A total of eight teams competed in the tournament organised by Panchthar Club.
