Book on Sports Medicine launched

Kathmandu, September 13

Sports Medicine, a book published by National Academy of Sports Medicine, was launched here today.

Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC launched the book amidst a function.

NASM’s President Dr Padam Bahadur Khadka as well as Dr Chaitanya Adhikari, Dr Bijay Kafle, Dr Rabi Raj Basaula, Dr Saroj Pandey and Dr Sushma Chhetri have contributed articles for the book.

The book deals with first aid, sports injuries, diet and nutrition, exercise sciences, drugs and doping, and physiotherapy.

Khadka said the book was published with special focus on injuries and proper treatment and rehab. “Injured players should get immediate first aid and taken to hospital through safe transportation,” he said. “

After that, proper focus should be given on treatment and rehab so that the players could make a timely comeback. And the book has simply suggested on that,” said Khadka.

Similarly, Dr Khagendra Bahadur Shrestha said the book was written in simple language and was helpful not only for players and coaches but for all. “The book will also be helpful for policy makers to formulate plans,” said Shrestha.

Minister KC said the book was an important document for Nepali sports sector. “I hope the book will be useful for players and coaches as they need to know about the health conditions,” said KC.
