Boys' team records victory in SA Regional Qualifying

Lalitpur, April 23

Nepali boys' team recorded a 3-0 victory over Bhutan in the South Asia Regional Qualifying event for ITF Asian U-12 and Team Championship here at the Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

Aki Zuben Rawat earned a double bagel against Tashi Nima Tshering and Aarav Samrat Hada saw off Sherab Gyeltshen 6-0, 6-1 in singles matches.

Similarly, Hada and Pranav Manandhar defeated Bhutanese pair of Jigme Pema Namgay and Tashi Nima Tshering 6-0, 6-0 in doubles match.

Similarly, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 3-0. Muhammad Huzaifa Khan saw off Lisar Goonathilake 6-3, 6-4 and Hamid Israr outplayed Vichithya Nilaweera 6-1, 6-4 in singles events. The pair of Bilal Asim and Hamid Israr beat Lisar Goonathilake and Vichithya Nilaweera 0-6, 6-0, 10-0.

In girls' section, Nepal faced defeat against India 3-0. Anjali Rathi beat Azaa Regmi 6-2, 6-2, while Shruti Ahlawat saw off Subhangee Laxmi Shah 6-0, 6-1 in singles events.

Similarly, Indian pair of Durganshi and Anjali Rathi outplayed Aisha Dolkar Gurung and Shubhangee Laxmi Shah 6-2, 6-1.

Likewise, Sri Lanka beat Bhutan 3-0 in another match of the category. Ruvi Lewkebandara saw off Karma Yuden Dorji 6-0, 6-1 and Hasali Gajaba earned a double bagel against Tenzin Wangsel Lhaden in singles events. Hasali Gajaba and Nelini Jayasuriya beat the pair of Karma Yuden Dorji and Tenzin Wangsel Lhaden 6-0, 6-0 in doubles match.

Teams from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Pakistan are competing in boys' category, while women's category features teams from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and India. Top two teams in both categories will qualify for the Asian Championship to be hosted by Kazakhstan in November.
