Brothers Badminton Tournament from today

Brothers Sports Hall, Gangata Youth Club and Dhorpatan Club are jointly holding the first Brothers Badminton Tournament in Gongabu, Kathmandu from Thursday.

The tournament will feature a total of seven events, informed Gangata Youth Club President  Resham Pun at a press meet today. Nearly 250 players will vie for the titles of the Men’s Doubles, Local B Team, Ice Breaking (new comer) and Boys’ and Girls’ U-12 and U-10, said Pun.

Winners of the men’s doubles event will earn Rs 30,000, while runners-up and third place finishers will get Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Similarly, top three finishers in local B team will receive Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively. Winners of the ice breaking, boys’ and girls’ U-12 and U-10 events will also get cash prizes.

Participants in the men’s doubles have to pay Rs 2,000 as entry fee, while entry fee for local B team is Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 for ice breaking events. Similarly, entry fee for the U-12 and U-10 is Rs 200 each.

According to Pun, the entry fee collected from U-12 and U-10 events will be donated to ‘Baby Life Home’, which is working for the education of HIV infected children. Pun said that expected budget of the tournament is Rs 668,000 and the tournament’s sponsor BG Mall will provide Rs 100,000.
