Butwal, February 27

CMG Club Sankata defeated Nepal APF Club 2-1 in extra-time battle and sailed into the semi-finals of the 19th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the ANFA Technical Centre grounds in Devi Nagar today.

Ajayi Martins Kayode and Kone Moussa scored a goal each for Sankata, while Rabi Thing scored the consolation goal for APF in the day’s quarter-final match. After a goalless first half, Martins put Sankata ahead in the 48th minute before APF’s Thing scored the equaliser in the 69th minute.

As both the teams were tied at 1-1, the winners of the match were decided after 20 minutes of added time. Man-of-the-match Moussa struck in the 105th minute to guide Sankata to last four.

Earlier, the two teams had played a 1-1 draw in a friendly match in Sarlahi before Sankata knocked APF out of Budha Subba Gold Cup with a 1-0 victory in Dharan last week. Sankata, who have already won two titles this season, lost in sudden death against Nepal Police Club in final on Saturday.

Sankata will face Himalayan Sherpa in the semi-final match.
