DAV beat Panthers; Lions win

Kathmandu, April 8

DAV defeated Hamro Kitchen Panthers by 17 runs in the TipTop Marwadi Premier League here at the TU Stadium today.

Batting first, DAV posted 152-8 in 20 overs before packing Panthers for 135 runs. DAV made a shaky start after they were invited to take the first strike. DAV were reduced to 27-4 before skipper Aashutosh Ghiraiya and Purnendu Ghosh took the team to fighting total.

Ghiraiya scored a quick fire 46 off 35 balls hitting six fours, while Ghosh struck five boundaries and a six in his 26-ball 46. Janardan Sharma scored 20-ball 24.

For Panthers, Shubham Agrawal took 3-14, while Harsh Podar claimed 2-15. Pulak Agrawal and Rupen Tyata bagged one wicket each.

In reply, the Panthers failed to overcome the total despite a fiery knock from opener Shubham Agrawal, who struck six fours and five sixes in his 37-ball 70. Ansh Agrawal (17) and Abhishek Agrawal (12) also scored in double figures.

For DAV, Prashant Yadav (3-32) and man-of-the-match Purnendu Ghosh (3-14) shared six wickets between them, while Aashutosh Ghiraiya claimed two and Prasidha Bajracharya pocketed one wicket.

In another match, RSK Lions beat Grand Academy Riders by 29 runs. Batting first, Lions scored 188-6 and restricted Riders to 159-5.

Akshya Kojari top scored for Lions with 65 off 42 balls that included eight fours and two sixes, while Abhishek Basnet scored 30-ball 38 hitting six boundaries. Likewise, Rishab Shetia scored 35 off 26 balls with the help of a four and two sixes, while Tushan Agrawal (14 not out), Hitesh Dalmiya (10) and Durgesh Thapa (10) scored in double figures.

Gaurav Sethia was the pick of the Riders bowlers with 3-13 from two overs. In reply, Riders fell short of target despite half centuries from Gaurav Sethia and Sudhir Chaudhary, who also added 92 runs for the third wicket. Sethia scored 54 off 52 balls hitting a four and three sixes, while Chaudhary struck six fours and two sixes in his 38-ball 57.

Mukesh Jain, man-of-the-match Akshya Kojari and Naveen Jain took one wicket each for Lions.
