Durga, Bal Kalyan enter final

Durga Secondary School of Rautahat and Bal Kalyan School of Morang advanced to the girls’ section final of the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament here today.

In the semi-final matches, Durga defeated Ideal HS School of Kathmandu 1-0, while Bal Kalyan registered a 3-0 victory over Nepal Rashtriya Higher Secondary School of Kathmandu.

Anju Lopchan scored the solitary goal of the match as Durga made it to the championship match of the tournament. After a barren first half, Lopchan found the net in the 45th minute, which was enough for the team to book the place in the final.

In the first semi-final match, Bal Kalyan School outplayed Nepal Rashtriya. Hema Rai opened the scoring in the 34th minute to go into the break with a 1-0 lead. Rabina Maharjan doubled Bal Kalyan’s lead in the 49th minute before Hema Rai scored her second and team’s third goal in the 69th minute.

In the boys’ section, Bhanubhakta Memorial School of Morang finished third beating Scholars Home of Rupandehi 4-2 on penalties. The match was decided in tie-breaker after both the teams failed to score in the regulation period.
