Farwest shoot CYC out of Khaptad Gold Cup

Farwest Sports Club defeated Chyasal Youth Club 5-4 on penalties and advanced to the semi-finals of the second International Invitational Nepal Ice Farwest Khaptad Gold Cup today.

The match was decided on penalties after both the teams were tied on 1-1 in the regulation period. Farwest’s Narendra Chaudhary, Rakesh Hamal, Jeevan Chaudhary, Chetan Tharu and Binod KC converted their shots from the spot, while Buddha Lama, Tej Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi and Bishal Shrestha scored for Chyasal. Farwest goalkeeper Jeevan Bhattarai denied Chyasal’s Suman Lama.

In the regulation period, Chyasal took the lead in the 71st minute through Segun Eyitayo’s goal before Binod KC levelled the tally in the 85thminute. On Saturday, Farwest-XI will take on Nepal APF Club in the first round match.

A total of 12 teams are competing in the event organised by Farwest Sports Club under the sponsorship of Chaudhary Group’s Nepal Ice.

The winners will receive Rs 1.1 million, while runners-up will get Rs 555,555. Similarly, the best player of the event will get a motorbike, whereas the best individuals will be awarded with Rs 25,000 each.
