Fighters thrash Beeone, thru to semi-finals

Kathmandu, April 9

Fighters thrashed Beeone-XI by 54 runs and advanced to the semi-finals of the TipTop Marwadi Premier League here at the TU Stadium today.

Batting first, Fighters posted 191-7 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Beeone to 137-6. With the victory, Fighters won all four matches of the five-team Group B and topped the table.

Fighters posted the mammoth total riding on Neeraj Jalan's 37-ball 62 not out that included five boundaries and three sixes. Rahul Bansal scored a quick fire 53 off 24 balls with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes. Vikash Sharma claimed two wickets for Beeone.

Mahesh Khatri top scored for Beeone with 48 off 43 balls hitting five boundaries. Shankar Paudel scored 34-ball 43 with five boundaries. Fighters' Ankit Garg and man-of-the-match Rahul Bansal claimed two wickets each.

In another match, TipTop-XI defeated Balkumari Cricket Club by 69 runs and kept their last four hopes alive from Group A.

Put into bat first, TipTop scored 177-8 before packing Balkumari for 108 runs in 18.2 overs.

Man-of-the-match Sumit Sharma cracked two boundaries and seven sixes in his 34-ball 68 to help TipTop post a mammoth total. Aschal Chaudhary (35) and Amol Sharma (30) also made significant contribution with the bat. Manish Goel was the pick of the Balkumari bowlers taking 4-22.

In reply, Bipin Acharya, who scored 29 off 31 balls hitting three boundaries, was the highest scorer for Balkumari. TipTop's Amol Sharma claimed 4-6 and Canaon Agarwal took 2-12.
