Friends thrash Manang

Friends Club and Nepal APF Club recorded wins in the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Tournament here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Friends Club thrashed Lamxi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club 3-0 in their Group B match, while APF came from a goal down to beat Saraswoti Youth Club 3-2 in Group A.

Friends recorded the stunning victory over MMC riding on a brace from Rumesh Bartaula and a goal from Dhiraj Shrestha. After a goalless first half, Bartaula opened the scoring in the 47th minute. Bartaula scored his second goal in the 82nd minute before Shrestha completed the rout three minutes later.

In another match, Ajit Waiba struck twice and Siddharth Bal netted one goal for APF, while Om Prakash Singh scored both goals for Saraswoti. Singh put Saraswoti ahead in the injury time of first half but APF’s Waiba levelled the scores in the 61st minute.

Waiba then made it 2-1 for APF in the 76th minute before Singh found the back of the nets in the 85th minute to level the scores. APF then scored the winning goal in the injury time of the match when he found the back of the nets.

On Tuesday, Jawalakhel Youth Club will play against Himalayan Sherpa Club in Group C, while Nepal Police Club will take on Brigade Boys Club in Group B match.
