Kathmandu, March 17

Dhangadhi Cricket Academy and Kiran Shoes Manufacturers today reached an agreement for the sponsorship of next month’s Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadhi Premier League.

President of DCA Subash Shahi and Director of Kiran Shoes, the manufacturers of Goldstar shoes, Vidushi Rana signed the agreement amidst a programme. As per the MoU, Goldstar will provide the DCA with Rs 500,000 in cash and kind and in return it will be one of the co-sponsors and official shoes partner of the event.

Rana said her company was fortunate to get the opportunity to join hands with DCA for the prestigious tournament. “Goldstar is exhilarated to be a part of the historic tournament, which has a significant contribution by fostering the bond of brotherhood,” said Rana. Shahi welcomed Kiran Shoes Manufacturers in the DPL family. “We are happy to get the support from Goldstar shoes. We appreciate their initiation for the game of cricket in the City of Cricket,” he said.

A total of six franchise-based teams will take part in the tournament scheduled for April 9-22 in Dhangadhi. National team skipper Paras Khadka will lead Team Chauraha Dhangadhi, while Gyanendra Malla is the team captain of CYC Attariya. Sharad Vesawkar is the skipper of Biratnagar Kings, whereas Basant Regmi will lead Kathmandu Goldens. Shakti Gauchan is the skipper of Rupandehi Challengers and Binod Bhandari will lead Kanchapur Iconic.

Out of the total cash purse of Rs 2.8 million, the top two teams will receive Rs 1.5 million and Rs 700,000 respectively. The man-of-the-match in every game will receive Rs 10,000, while the player-of-the-series will get a TVS RTR 200 Apache motorcycle. The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 10.6m.
