Himalayan Bank win

LALITPUR: Himalayan Bank won the title of the first Skoda Inter-bank Futsal Tournament here on Saturday.

Himalayan Bank defeated Global IME Bank 3-0 in the final match. With the title, Himalayan Bank received Rs 100,000, while Global IME got Rs 50,000. Earlier, Himalayan edged past Civil 3-2 and Global IME thrashed Mega Bank 5-0 in the semi-finals. In the quarter-finals, Mega outplayed Kumari 4-1, Global IME defeated NIC Asia 5-4, Civil beat NMB 3-2 and Himalayan registered a 3-2 victory over Prabhu. Aachal Khatri of Himalayan was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while he shared the highest scorer’s trophy with his teammate Bibek Maharjan and NIC Asia’s Suraj Maharjan after they were tied on nine goals.

Suraj Chand was declared the best goalkeeper. Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Chiranjibi Nepal handed over the prizes to the winner of the tournament.

A total of 20 teams took part in the event organised by Active Sports Complex under the sponsorship of Morang Auto Works.
