Hyundai Open Golf tees off on Friday at Gokarna

Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd is organising the Hyundai Open Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Golf Club on Friday and Saturday.

Around 130 players are expected to participate in the eighth edition of the tournament which will be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed Deepak Acharya, Senior Golf Director at Gokarna Forest Resort, at a press meet today.

“We have expanded the tournament to two days to accommodate the number of participants. Around 50 golfers, including junior players, will complete their rounds on Friday and we are expecting some 80 golfers for Saturday,” added Acharya.

Senior Manager-Marketing at Laxmi Intercontinental Awashis Ojha said the company was happy with the association with Gokarna Forest Resort. “We have been organising the eighth edition of the tournament and we have got a very good response from the golf fraternity,” said Ojha. “We are really satisfied with the tournament and we are confident of organising the event for many years,” he added.

The tournament features six categories — nett, gross, women, senior, junior and Hyundai owners. Apart from that, prizes are also up for grabs in most birdies, closest-to-the-pin and longest drive sections.

The organisers have kept Hyundai Grand i10 worth Rs 2.7 million for the Hole-in-One feat on par-3 Hole No 10. “Apart from that, we will also award the best maintained vehicle and have a stall for free check-up of the vehicles of the players and invitees,” said Ojha.
